Agriculture

The Agriculture Department at Corowa High School consists of a prime lamb production system, poultry production, honey production, vegetable production and fruit production, with an emphasis on grape production.

Year 8

Agriculture is studied for one Semester, as part of the Technology syllabus. During this term, students enjoy growing vegetables and working with sheep and poultry.

Years 9 and 10 (Elective)

Year 9 students study wheat production, sheep production, vegetable production and poultry production.
In Year 10, students study viticulture, prime lamb production and honey production.

Preliminary and HSC Course - 2 unit

Agriculture is offered in Years 11 and 12 as an elective course.

VITICULTURE

Years 11 and 12 - VET course

This course has been developed by the Wine Industry National Education Training and Advisory Council (Winetac). The course is a competency skills based course, with students achieving an Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Certificate 1 in Food Processing Wine.

Corowa High School has a vineyard in which students work. They also do work placements at local wineries to gain skills in viticulture and help with the production of wine.

Our 2003 Durif won a bronze medal at the Victorian Wine Show.
