Personal Development, Health & Physical Education

Years 7 to 10 (mandatory)

Our experienced staff guide students through a complex and comprehensive theoretical and practical PDHPE course. Students learn about and practise ways of, adopting and maintaining a healthy, productive and active life.

It also involves students learning through movement experiences that are both challenging and enjoyable, whilst improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence. It promotes the value of physical activity throughout the student’s life.

Facilities and Equipment include:

Extensive gymnastics equipment, cricket nets, basketball courts, ovals, volleyball courts and netball courts

HSC PDHPE — 2 unit

The senior course has no formal prerequisites, but builds on the skills learnt in the junior syllabus.

The syllabus has 2 distinct parts:

  • A social view of health - the principles of diversity, social justice and supportive environments.
  • Movement and Physical Activity which emphasises an understanding of how the body moves.

HSC Sport, Lifestyle & Recreation — 1 or 2 unit

SLR is a highly practical course. Students apply their theoretical understanding to practical situations. Sports science, physical education and human movement are all possible career choices for these students.

Community & Family Services HSC — 2 unit

C&FS explores issues important to all young people. It encourages them to become involved members of society. The course complements the role of families and other social groups by helping students to make informed decisions and to take responsible action in all aspects of their lives. 

PDHPE SKILLS

In ALL these courses, students learn to develop and apply skills that enable them to adopt and promote healthy and active lifestyles.
