Textiles Technology

The aim of Textiles Technology is to develop confidence and proficiency in the design, production and evaluation of textile items. Students are actively engaged in learning about the properties and performance of textiles, textile design and the role of textiles in society. It is offered as an elective subject in Years 9 to 12.

Years 9 and 10, Preliminary and HSC - 2 unit

Project work forms the basis of every unit in the course. There are two components of all project work:

  • Development of practical skills to produce a textile item
  • Documentation of student work

Students work from a focus area, which could be:

  • Apparel
  • Furnishings
  • Costume
  • Textile Arts
  • Non-Apparel

All practical lessons are conducted in a fully equipped textiles laboratory.
